Shattered Glass is about mental health. It represents a journey of the emotional toll the pandemic has on young adults in relation to perception. Perception of their relationships with others, themselves, and their view of reality.
The first track of Shattered Glass begins with a mix of real and synthesized instruments all mixed together representing the beginning of a loss of clarity. Next the listener is taken through various dreamy and emotive tracks that each represent a different mindset. Disappointment, melancholy, grief, disbelief, and longing. The final track shatters the haze of emotional turmoil and we are hit with clarity. The sound of a pure grand piano and acoustic instruments awaken the listener from a dream, and bring to light true reality.
Spanning coast to coast, the contributions of musicians from across Canada brought an eclectic array of sound to the EP.
Melody-driven and deeply personal, this EP marks Micki’s first attempt in releasing music. Aside from the drums and bass, every featured instrument was lovingly played and recorded by Micki herself in her cozy basement suite back in 2019. Inspired by her own experiences and sailing adventures while living in Vancouver, BC, the project captures the spirit of discovery, both musically and in life.
